History

The Dallas Women’s Covenant was created in 1994 to pursue a five-year effort to facilitate broad-based, lasting change in the business community that would result in the expansion of economic opportunities for all women. In 1999, the Covenant Advisory Board with the support of the Citizen’s Council and Dallas Regional Chamber committed to supporting the Covenant for an additional five years.

Mission

The Dallas region will be recognized as the premier location for women to work and do business.

Dallas Women’s Covenant Goals
  • Increase procurement and business opportunities for women-owned businesses.
  • Increase employment opportunities for women at every level, including middle and senior management and board of director positions.

Corporate Participation

Each year participating organizations establish specific goals for their work places located in the Dallas area, formulate programs and objectives for accomplishing these goals, and measure actual results on an annual basis. At a minimum, each participant agrees to report accomplishments for the Dallas area by:

  • The total dollar amount of purchases from women-owned businesses
  • The percentage of new hires who were women
  • The percentage of management, professional and board positions filled by women during the reporting year
